Three Additional Suspects Arrested in Connection to Richard Otieno’s Murder

A joint team of detectives from the Homicide Investigations Bureau and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) has arrested three key suspects linked to the brutal murder of Richard Otieno Haga, alias “Molo President,” which took place on January 18, 2025, in Elburgon.

The suspects Peter Oketch, alias DJ IO, Joseph Kihara Kariuki, alias Jose, and Evans Aseka Okututi were forensically tied to the crime scene alongside other individuals still at large.

Investigations indicate that the trio was transported from Molo to Elburgon to execute the heinous act.

“The suspects Peter Oketch, alias DJ IO, Joseph Kihara Kariuki, alias Jose, and Evans Aseka Okututi were forensically connected to the crime scene with other suspects who are still at large.Investigations revealed that they were transported from Molo to Elburgon to carry out the heinous act,” explained the DCI.

Following the murder, Oketch and Kariuki fled to Majahida in Tanzania’s Bariadi District to evade arrest. However, their attempt to escape justice was short-lived, as Tanzanian authorities intensified their crackdown, forcing them to return to Kenya on February 21, 2025.

“Following the incident, Peter Oketch and Joseph Kihara Kariuki fled to Majahida in Bariadi District, Tanzania, in an attempt to evade capture. However, they returned to Kenya on Friday, February 21, 2025, after Tanzanian authorities closed in on them,” noted the detectives.

The three suspects are set to appear before the Nakuru Chief Magistrate’s Court as authorities seek custodial orders to facilitate further investigations.

Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies continue their pursuit of additional suspects believed to have played a role in the murder.

Authorities have assured the public that no effort will be spared in ensuring all perpetrators are brought to justice. Updates on the ongoing investigation will follow as new developments emerge.
