Law enforcement officers from Voi Police Station have successfully arrested three infamous highway robbers who had been eluding authorities for an extended period.
As reported by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the individuals identified as Joseph Macharia Mwangi, aged 40, Peter Muchemi Maina, aged 36, and Agnes Malemba Mshenga, aged 32, and were detained following a thorough surveillance operation conducted along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
“The trio was intercepted at Vacani Resort while traveling in a white Subaru Legacy with the license plate KCJ 842Z. Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, officers’ uncovered three sets of reflective number plates KCR 879U, KCA 583L, and KAZ 946L,” the DCI said.
Furthermore, the DCI indicated that the officers seized a variety of suspicious items, such as jungle uniforms, a kitchen knife, two Maasai swords, and a mechanics kit containing spanners, a jack, pressure pumps, puncture repair tools, brake pads, and an assortment of burglary tools.
The three suspects are currently detained at Voi Police Station, where they are being processed in anticipation of their court appearance.
On the other hand Police officers from Mutitu Police Station have arrested 33-year-old Ernest Musyoka and seized government property found in his possession. Musyoka, who was wanted for making death threats and assault, was taken into custody at his residence in Itiko village.
“Upon searching the house, officers recovered an array of government stores, including a senior APS officer’s sweater, a former maroon APS sweater, and a green jungle sweater. The haul also included three jungle belts, two pairs of APS trousers, three black berets, three jungle t-shirts, and four pairs of green socks. Additionally, officers recovered an NYS green sweater and two NYS shirts,” the Directorate of Criminal Investigations said on X.
The DCI reported that Musyoka is currently being held in custody as he undergoes processing pending his arraignment.
