Kenya government is finalizing its plans to roll out toll stations in five of Kenya major roads.
This is accoding to Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) Director-General Peter Mundinia today, Monday 7, who was speaking at Nairobi’s Norfork Hotel.
The KeNHA director noted that the roads will be managed by private developers.
Private entities will construct and maintain the toll stations, Mundinia added, while charging road users a fee for the next 30 years.
“With an operation and maintenance, we will require the private partners to undertake continuous maintenance of roads through the life of the contract,” he said.
The major roads include the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, Nairobi-Nakuru-Mau Summit highway, Nairobi-Thika road and the Nairobi Southern Bypass.
