Trained Arsenal team in Kenya to help in talent identification

From Arsenal Football Club, well-trained trained coaching staff arrived in Kenya ahead of one huge task.

The skilled coaching staff is expected to help polish talent identification skills among Kenyan coaches.

This comes as the  country eyes participation in the World Cup 2022.

The exposure to international best practices is key if Kenya is to realize its goal of reaching the football World Cup in 2022 slated for Qatar.

This is according to Sportpesa management which has been in and out to support local talents,

Being the official sponsor for Gor Mahia, Afc Leopards, Jersey sponsor for Hull City and Kenya Premier League sponsor among other participations, the betting company has invested heavily in nurturing talents.

The coaches will be in Kenya to conduct a five days coaching clinic starting Monday 5 December.

The clinic, taking place at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies (KSMS), is being held through the sponsorship of the country’s premier sports betting company, Sportpesa.

The clinic is part of a deal between Sportpesa and the English Premiership side, signed in February this year.

As part of the agreement to have Sportpesa as Arsenal’s main betting partner in Africa, the partnership promised great things for Kenyan football, including the facilitation of training for Kenyan coaches.

“As part of the partnership, SportPesa will be offering five-day training camps twice per season which will be led by Arsenal-trained coaching staff. These sessions will be designed to ensure that both footballers and coaches in Kenya learn to incorporate the key principles of ‘playing the Arsenal way’. These camps will also help support the initiatives that SportPesa have in place to identify and nurture talent at a grassroots level,” an update on Arsenal FC’s official website read, announcing the deal.

In attendance at the clinic are, among others, Nzoia United coach Bernard Mwalala, Sammy Pamzo Omollo (Posta Rangers), Fred Ambani (Nakumatt), Ibrahim Shikanda (Nairobi Stima),  Mike Mururi (Kakamega Homeboyz) and John Baraza (Sofapaka).
