Transport along Murang’a-Kiriaini road has been disrupted after hundreds of residents protested against diversion to a route they described impassible.
Backed by public service operators, the residents camped at Mahua ini area demanding the contractor to create a diversion along the section, as they recounted a night tribulations yesterday.
Lazarus Ngatia said he left Murang’a at 7 pm and arrived home in Mugeka after 2 am after the diversion at Muriowanda became impassable.
Constructor representative Thomas Njogu on his part regretted the disruption of the economic activities along the section saying they are working on the remaining 3.5 kilometres to connect Murang’a and Mugeka section.
Murang’a county Kenya Rural Roads Authority Manager Eng Joseph Wanjohi said the contractor is under instruction to create diversions not to interfere with the flow of the traffic.
