A tribunal appointed to probe alleged misconduct against Supreme Court judge justice Jackton Ojwang was sworn in amid a cloud of confusion over the chairmanship of the team.
The seven member tribunal led by Alnashir Visram is now set to meet on Monday when they are expected to lay the ground rules on how to proceed with investigations surrounding allegations leveled against Justice Jackton Ojwang.
The seven member tribunal appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to investigate misconduct allegations against suspended Supreme Court judge Jackton Ojwang was sworn in amid questions abound on the eligibility of its chairman Alnasir Visram.
Critics pointed at President Uhuru Kenyatta and his advisers for appointing the eighty year old judge to the probe team established to determine the alleged misconduct by Justice Jackton Ojwang.
Ojwang is accused of manipulating judgment to favor Sony Sugar Company and in return was rewarded by Migori Governor Okoth Obado who built a road to his private residence on the outskirts of Migori town.
But as critics express their sentiments, court of appeal judge visram states that he is will not be deterred by the noise and that he will deliver.
On his part, Attorney General Paul Kihara who was present urged the team to be unbiased and uphold the oath of office.
According to insiders the seven member team probing Ojwang will meet on Monday to lay the ground rules on how to proceed with investigations surrounding allegations leveled against Justice Ojwang
The swearing in of the team is in line with article 168 sub-article 5 of the constitution which requires the president to establish a tribunal within 14 days to probe Judge Ojwang’ and suspend him for the period of investigations.
