Two Suspects Arraigned in Court over Murder of Former Wells Fargo HR Manager Willis Ayieko

Two additional suspects in the murder of Willis Ayieko Onyango, the former Human Resource Manager at Wells Fargo, appeared before the Kisumu High Court.

Duncan Ochieng Obong’o, also known as Otuchi, and Samuel Onyango Ongweso, referred to as Onyango Ja Boda, were presented in court on the 10th and 11th of November 2024, respectively.

Both suspects are charged with murder in violation of section 203, as read in conjunction with section 204 of the Penal Code, Chapter 63 of the Laws of Kenya.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the Information filed in Court, Duncan Ochieng Obong’o alias Otuchi and Samuel Onyango Ongweso alias Onyango Ja Boda, jointly with others are alleged to have murdered the deceased between the night of the 18th and the 23rd of October 2024 around Nyamboga Stream at the border of Gem and Khwisero Sub counties within Siaya and Kakamega counties.

“The court having received the mental assessment report for Duncan Ochieng ordered that the suspect appear for plea-taking on 18th December 2024, while for the third suspect, Samuel Ochieng, the court directed that he be brought for plea-taking on 8th January 2025 by which time the mental assessment should have been done and the report filed in court,” ODPP stated.

The suspects appeared before the Deputy Registrar of the High Court, Hon Gertrude Serem.

The matter is being prosecuted by Ms. Catherine Mwaniki, Patrick Okango, Mercy Muema and Soita Evans.
