The United Democratic Alliance party has mourned the loss of their programme officer Ms. Miriam Opondo who was also a champion for Persons with Disabilities.
In a statement released to the public, the United Democratic Alliance conveyed their condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Opondo describing her to be a kind and dedicated member.
“It is with a heavy heart and deep sorrow that on behalf of the UDA Party, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of our departed colleague at the UDA Party Ms. Miriam Opondo,” SG Hassan Omar said.
“We learnt of Ms. Opondo’s demise with utter shock. Until her demise, Ms. Opondo was a Programme Officer in-charge of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and was actively involved in mainstreaming of programmes and policies aimed at enhancing greater participation and representation of minority groups and more particularly PWDs in both the Party and government,” Mr. Omar Hassan added.
The ruling party stated that the 41-year-old mother of five was not only a cherished member of the UDA community but also a compassionate and devoted person who infused positivity and dedication into all her endeavors.
“Ms. Opondo was a critical cog of the wheel that helped run the activities of the diverse UDA society.”
“The deceased’s contributions to our organization were immeasurable and leaves a big vacuum in the organisation’s ecosystem. Ms. Opondo had a unique ability to uplift those around her, and her hard work and passion inspired all,” Hassan Omar
The UDA Party through the Secretary General further said that it offers its unwavering solidarity and support to the family during this difficult time.
