UDA Registers 113,800 Candidates for Phase Two Grassroots Elections in 22 Counties

A total of 113,800 candidates have signed up to compete for various positions in the Phase Two elections, which are scheduled to occur across 22 counties.

The UDA National Steering Committee, in conjunction with the National Elections Board, confirmed during a joint meeting at Hustler Plaza that all preparations are complete for the elections, set to take place on April 11 and 12.

“The registration for candidates is now open and we will remain available until Friday 21st March 2025 at midnight. Interested members can register through our online portal http://uda.ke,” read in part, the statement signed by UDA National Chairperson Governor Cecily Mbarire.

The party’s organs insisted that the grassroots polls are a pivotal step towards strengthening democracy and ensuring the voices of our local communities are heard and represented.

“Grassroots elections are vital in ensuring that the voices of our communities are heard and represented. By empowering local leaders, we cultivate a leadership that is not only responsive but also accountable to the people,” added the statement.

The United Democratic Alliance party has announced the acquisition of 10,000 electronic devices to support the online voting process.

The elections are scheduled for April 11 in the counties of Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Kajiado, Turkana, Kisii, Nyamira, Bungoma, Migori, Siaya, and Kisumu.

Meanwhile, Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Marsabit, Isiolo, Taita Taveta, Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Tana River counties will hold their elections on April 12.
