United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary General Cleophas Malala has fired a stern warning against some of the party’s prominent leaders over what he has fiercely called a “blatant disrespect to the party leadership.”

Upon his return to Kenya alongside the UDA delegation, Malala expressed his concern over rising indiscipline reports from a section of elected leaders in the party.

“My attention has been drawn to the fact that certain individuals continue to show blatant disrespect to the party leadership including the presidency. This behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated within the realms of our party,” noted the UDA Secretary General.

A statement dispatched by the UDA Secretary General cited public sentiments and actions of Githunguri Member of Parliament, Hon. Gathoni Wa Muchomba, Kapseret Member of Parliament, Hon Oscar Sudi and Nyeri Governor, Hon. Mutahi Kahiga.

“Your recent conduct not only undermines the party’s unity but also disrespects the leadership that you pledged to serve,” read the statement in part.

“Let this be a stern warning, desist from such actions with immediate effect. Should this behaviour persist, the party will take disciplinary action against you,” added the party’s Secretary General.

At the same UDA Secretary General Malala called off some cabinet secretaries for involving themselves in politics an act against the law which requires them to remain unpolitical.

“Hon. Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Gender, and Affirmative Action, your primary responsibility is to serve the people within your docket. Should you wish to engage in politics, you are welcome to resign and the political arena,” hinted SG Malala.

Cabinet Secretary for Road and Transport Kipchumba Murkomen was not spared.

“Similarly, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, your focus should be on addressing the pressing issues in your ministry, particularly the reclamation of roads damaged by recent floods. Serve the Kenyan people or step down from your position and return to politics,” noted Hon. Malala.

Further, he urged young people in the party to shun these behaviours.

“Furthermore, I urge the young politicians within the UDA  who have prematurely begun their campaigns for 2032 to halt these activities. Your current mandate is to serve your constituents. Early campaigns not only distract from your responsibilities but also disrespects the trust placed in you by the electorate. Should you continue with these premature campaigns, the party will take stern disciplinary action against you,” added UDA Party’s Secretary General.

This follows a week-long conflict among leaders within the ruling party, sparked by rumours suggesting a rift between Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and President Ruto.
