In a significant move signaling the consolidation of political forces, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has officially integrated key figures from the Amani National Congress (ANC) into its leadership structure.
This comes after the recent merger of the two parties, aimed at strengthening their collective political influence.
“UDA Party has incorporated former members of Amani National Congress Party in its leadership structure following the merger of the two parties,” stated UDA.
Speaking during the merger, President William Ruto who is also the UDA Party leader, highlighted the pivotal role the two parties will play in transforming the country.
“The merger of the United Democratic Alliance Party and the Amani National Congress brings on board diverse, inclusive and transformative political views and ideas to take Kenya forward. With this unity of purpose, we can now embark on a renewed aspiration to further democracy and accelerate our economic growth,” President Ruto said.
During a press briefing, UDA’s National Executive Committee (NEC) announced the appointment of Issa Timamy, the former ANC Party Leader, as UDA’s Deputy Party Leader.
Hon. Omboko Milemba, the Emuhaya MP and former ANC Secretary General, has been named the Deputy Secretary General, working alongside Sen. Hassan Omar.
In addition, Mr. Kevin Lunani has taken up the role of Vice Chairperson of UDA, further solidifying the integration of ANC’s leadership into the UDA framework.
The party’s Chairperson, H.E. Cecily Mbarire, also revealed the appointment of three former ANC officials as new UDA Directors, marking a significant expansion of the party’s leadership team.
Governor Mbarire highlighted that the merger represents a fusion of ideologies and visions, which will be symbolically reflected in the party’s new branding.
UDA has incorporated ANC’s identity symbols into its updated logo, imagery, typography, and overall brand, signifying unity and a shared purpose.
This merger marks a new chapter for UDA, as it continues to position itself as a dominant force in Kenya’s political landscape.
The inclusion of ANC’s leadership and identity elements underscores the party’s commitment to inclusivity and broad-based representation.
