A nine-year-old Congolese girl who tested positive for Ebola has died. The girl had travelled to Uganda from the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.
“She passed on at around 0800 (0500 GMT) this morning,” said Kasese Health Director Yusuf Baseka. Kasese is a district in southwestern Uganda along the border with DR Congo.
The child was diagnosed after exhibiting symptoms. She was subsequently isolated and transferred to an Ebola treatment unit. Her body will be repatriated to DR Congo.
Uganda has been on high alert following an Ebola outbreak in DR Congo in August 2018. The girl is the fourth Ebola victim in Uganda to pass on.
