Ugandan Nanny Arraigned on Robbery Charges in Nairobi

Everline Nabalyo Loice, also known as Eva, a Ugandan national, has been arraigned at the Makadara Law Courts on two counts of robbery, including the theft of gold, following an incident in Nairobi’s Eastleigh estate.

Ms. Nabalyo, who was charged alongside an unidentified accomplice still at large, is accused of violently robbing Hakimo Muhidin Ali of a mobile phone valued at Ksh. 30,000.

According to the prosecution, Ms. Nabalyo used a hammer as an offensive weapon during the robbery.

“At the Makadara Law Courts, Ms. Nabalyo was charged, jointly with another not before court, with violently robbing Hakimo Muhidin Ali of a mobile phone valued at Ksh. 30,000,” stated the ODPP.

“Further, the court heard that the accused was armed with an offensive weapon namely a hammer, which she used to hit at her target,” added the ODPP.

Ms. Nabalyo with another not before court, of stealing a laptop worth Ksh. 110,000 and 22 grams of gold worth Ksh. 210,000.

In addition to the robbery charge, Ms. Nabalyo who was arrested at Kariokor in Nairobi while attempting to board a Kampala bound bus, was also charged of stealing a laptop worth Ksh. 110,000 and 22 grams of gold valued at Ksh. 210,000 from Abdirazak Jamaa Ali.

During the hearing, the prosecution denied Ms. Nabalyo a bond, citing her non-Kenyan nationality and the risk of flight.

The prosecution highlighted that Ms. Nabalyo had been evading capture since committing the offense in November 2024.

However the hearing of the case is set to commence on March 2025, during which the charges against Ms. Nabalyo will be fully examined.
