Orange Democratic Movement  leader Raila Odinga has stated that former President Uhuru Kenyatta asked him to talk to President William Ruto to resolve the crisis  witnessed in the country in previous months caused by the Gen Z protests.

“Uhuru called me and told me that I should talk to Ruto because if the country burns, then we will have no other country,” Raila said.

Mr. Odinga stated that the president looked for him and they held discussions maintaining that there was no handshake.

The ODM party leader was speaking during the funeral of Mzee Chirchir Masit who was the father of exiled IEBC commissioner Irene Masit.

He explained that he discussed with president Ruto concerning the grievances raised by Gen-Zs during the anti-government protests witnessed in the country in the previous months.

“When we spoke, I told Ruto that those he put in government were not serving the country and had to be removed,” Raila stated.

He said they agreed to form a broad-based government to save the country and not a coalition.

“I talked with Ruto and he agreed to dissolve the cabinet for a new beginning,” stated Raila.

“I wanted to resolve the previous issues that affected the citizens, thats why is want us to get time to find a solution  through national dialogue and unite people of Kenya,” added ODM party leader.

According to Raila the Gen Zs were not mad but they were raising genuine concerns affecting the country.

Raila’s sentiments come after allegations from different media houses stating that there have been a handshake between Azimio la Umoja Coalition and the Kenya Kwanza administration under President William Ruto.
