Uhuru Kenyatta orders NYS recruits be increased to 30,000

President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday directed that the number or Kenya  National Youth Service (NYS) recruits should be increased from the current to 30,000.

“I hereby direct that the number of youth recruited into NYS should be increased from 21,870 to 30,000,” the president Uhuru Kenyatta said while giving a speech at Gilgil when he presided over the pass-out parade of over 10,000 recruits.

The president said that while he was addressing the  Wananchi shortly after presiding over the pass-out parade at NYS College Gilgil.

The president challenged the residents to emulate the NYS recruits who coke from all tribes in Kenya but wash away tribalism memories to live as brothers and sisters.

“I challenge you to emulate youths who live and work together peaceful in their colleges irrespective of their backgrounds,” the president said. “Youth come from all corners of the country, live together and share everything they have as they train in colleges.”

“Unity is the only way through which we can prosper. Tribalism and division cannot feed, create jobs or allow businesses to thrive,” he added.  “Our patriotism is what will help us progress.”
