The United Nations Development Programme welcomed Mr. Kamil Kamaluddeen to South Sudan as the agency’s new Country Director on Tuesday, 4 October. Mr. Kamaluddeen joins the South Sudan country office after a successful stint in Liberia.
Mr. Kamaluddeen is a development management economist and governance expert with wide ranging international policy advisory and country office management experience. For most of his international career, KK, as Mr. Kamaluddeen is widely known, worked extensively on transformative policies and programmes that advanced economic and social opportunities for millions struggling to escape poverty and crisis, and helped governments to improve inclusive governance and service delivery systems.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Kamaluddeen served in several capacities in the UN system, including recently as UNDP Country Director in Liberia (2013-2016) and Ghana (2008-2013) among tohers.
He has also contributed to change management and programme refinement exercises in many UNDP offices including Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Nigeria, Lesotho, Sierra Leone, Somalia and Tanzania.
