Nyamira County assembly premises has been inaccessible since Tuesday this week after chaos pitting two factions of MCAs which suckled in some members of the public persisted.
At the centre of the chaos is speaker, Moffat Teya, whom a section of the county assembly members accuse of favouring their rivals and applying high handedness leadership techniques.
The faction also claims some legislators were involved in perpetuating the current impasse at the expense of county development activities.
Business operations in the town have been paralyzed by police deployed to quell the face-off at the county assembly building.
In the latest incident, the police moved in to disburse protesters who camped along the entrance to the county assembly prompting traders to close up their businesses in a huff.
Speaking to the media,Itibo ward MCA Samuel Nyang’au Nyanchama decried the barricading of the county assembly rendering it inaccessible.
He attributed the stand-off to Speaker Teya’s uncompromising position to negotiate with the combatants and resolve the misunderstanding.
Thadeus Momanyi from Ekerenyo ward condemned the police action outside the county assembly claiming it disrupted the small scale traders’ businesses.
Momanyi alleged the chaos will be protracted as long as the police were being used to protect some individuals vowing that the MCAs will continue to fight for the rights of the electorate.
