UoN students vows to go on street over 5b scam

The University of Nairobi (UoN) students have vowed to go streets tomorrow to demand the resignation of those mentioned in Ksh 5b health ‘scandal’.

Speaking today, the Student Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU) chair, Babu Owino said that students from UoN will join Civil Societies in streets tomorrow ahead of the planned demonstrations.

“On Wednesday we are going to join civil societies to demand that CS plus CS goes home,” Said Babu Owino, the SONU chair.

The students, through SONU chair, have demanded that Health Cabinet secretary Cleopa Mailu resigns, otherwise they will be forced to go on streets as their stay would hinder investigations.

Mailu, Muraguri say no to resignation over Sh5bn scandal

Health Cabinet Secretary Dr Cleopa Mailu and his embattled Permanent Secretary Dr Nicholas Muraguri  on 28th October dismissed calls for their resignation over the alleged misappropriation of Sh5 billion at Afya House.

Mailu and Muraguri called for patience to enable investigators from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission complete their work.
