Bomas International Convention Complex (BICC) in Nairobi County, which serves as a cultural and conference centre, has been undergoing construction.
On 22nd of May 2025, a team led by Soipan Tuya, the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Defence, went to inspect the preparatory works of the facility.
“Bomas International Convention Complex is an ultra-modern 100,320 square metres multi-facility complex that includes an 11,000 capacity convention centre, sports/recreation area, animal orphanage, hotel and cultural facilities,” said Tuya through his X platform.
The CS continued to say that the project would be delivered in four phases.
“The flagship Government project under the supervision of the Ministry of Defence through Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), will be delivered in four phases through a multi-agency approach,” continued Tuya.
In attendance at the meeting were Defence PS Dr Mariru, Commander of Kenya Defense Forces Engineering Brigade Brig Joseph Mutua, Chairperson of the Bomas of Kenya Board Hon Jane Kiptoo Chebaibai and Chief Executive Officer Mr Jimmy Okidiangi among other senior Government and military officials.
“When complete, the Bomas International Convention Complex will raise Kenya’s conferencing, recreational, cultural and wildlife tourism profile, contributing to wealth and employment creation in line with the Government’s BETA plan,” noted the CS.
