The former Devolution cabinet secretary who had announced her step-down following pressure from opposition and public citing health issues after she was highly linked National Youth Service scandal, Ms Anne Waiguru has eventually shown her interest in politics by joining Jubilee party.
Waiguru also hinted that she could seek an elective position in Kirinyaga County in a ceremony to award the former Devolution Secretary a Golden TNA membership certificate at the party’s headquarters.
During the ceremony, Waiguru said that the certificate will enable her go to the people of Kirinyaga and begin sampling the issues that face them.
Waiguru had been accused of mishandling of the National Youth Service and the alleged fraudulent loss of 791 million shillings under her watch.
The former CS said she will come clean on her future in politics after sharing words and making enough consultation with Kirinyaga people.
“And when I announce my candidature I will do it from the ground, from where it is. But as we say, he who is wise does not need to be told,” added Waiguru.
This could be an indicator that Waiguru has avoided Nairobi Gubernatorial contest circus and aims to turn a new life in Kirinyaga.
Onyango Oloo, The National Alliance secretary has said that providing Waiguru with the certificate does not signify that she has been endorsed.
“This is not an endorsement to any political position office,” Oloo said. “The party structures stand neutral oblivious of any person position, but offering a free fair and transparent platform of which they will play their politics,” said Oloo.
