Residents of Kisii and Nyamira counties have been urged to register for a water connectivity programme under implementation for three months.
Gusii Water and Sanitation Company(GWASCO)operating in the larger Gusii region will undertake the programme according to manifestos of governors,Simba Arati and Amos Nyaribo.
The GWASCO board chairman, David Obure claimed the Ksh 500 registration fees for connectivity was affordable and that the programme will supply water to far flung areas within the two counties.
This comes after the commissioning of the Ksh. 2-3 revamped Kegati Water project to boost the commodity’s supply to the rising population in the region.
On Bonyunyu Dam project in Kitutu Masaba, Nyamira county, geared towards providing water within the region and outlaying counties Obure assured the residents that it will be actualized.
The project estimated to cost Ksh. 9billion,had been suspended on land compensation prompting the national government’s intervention to resolve issue.
He,however, admitted that like any water connectivity venture elsewhere in the country, the Bonyunyu one was also not spared on challenges.
