A 73 year old woman was killed at 4;00 am Wednesday at her home by a gang in Samoget Village, Litein, Kericho County.
During the attack, Anna Chepkwony’s husband, Richard Chepkwony, 78 years old, was was seriously injured while three girls aged between 11 and 29 years were raped.
Chepkwony and the house help were rushed to Litein Mission Hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
Kericho County police Commander James Mwogera who spoke on phone said four man gang armed with crude weapons, chisels, knives and iron bars entered the house through the window by pushing the ventilation loover.
Sheila Cherotich, a house help was also hit and left unconscious.
Kericho MCAs led by Kapsoit MCA Paul Chirchir Tarimbo called on interior CS Fred Matiangi and inspector general Joseph Boinett to do an overhaul of entire security team in the county in what they term as laxity from top to bottom.
Monicah Cherono, a neighbor said the security in the area has lapsed, calling on the leaders in the county to intervene.
