The world athletics governing body world athletics has ratified the world half-marathon record of 58 minutes and 1 second set by Geoffrey Kamworor during the Copenhagen half marathon on September 15th 2019.
In a sensational run, Kamworor who trains together with world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge chopped 22 seconds from the previous record of 58 minutes 23 seconds set by Zersenay Tadese in Lisbon 2010. Kamworor has continued to impress winning his second New York marathon title on November 3rd to reclaim the title he last won in 2017.he also holds 3 world cross country titles and a silver medal in the 10,000meters
