WORLD HABITAT DAY: SENGWER indigenous people hold protest in bid to be recognized

As the world commemorates the United Nations world habitat day today, the sengwer council of elders flagged by the civil society are holding a march from freedom corner demanding for recognition. The protest will then deliver 270,000 petitions to the President seeking an end to forced evictions in the Embombut forest and a right to their land

World habitat day reflects on the state of towns and cities, and the basic right of all too adequate shelter. The day is also intended to remind the world that they have the power and the responsibility to shape the future of cities and towns
