A young person died instantly after two unknown people on a motorcycle pulled by his side and severed his neck with a machete at Miruka trading centre.
Eye witnesses said the deceased was walking home from the trading center, along Miruka – Kisii road in the afternoon when one of the riders alighted.
He engaged the youth in what appeared as a brief argument before flushing out the machete and critically cutting his neck.
The attacker jumped into the motorbike and fled towards the direction the deceased was heading.
Police were informed immediately about the incident and collected the body to Nyamira Referral Hospital mortuary.
Spectators expressed outrage over the callous incident which they said had never been witnessed before at the trading centre.
Area chief Robert Nyakundi said he received information on the 9pm cold blooded killing,went to the scene and alerted the police.
He condemned the incident and described the deceased, Kevin Abuga( 28)a polite youth who rarely quarreled with
,anybody.
The chief said investigations will be launched to bring to book the perpetrators of the heinous act.
Spectators mourned the deceased as a person who was well behaved and related cordially with friends and.residents.
They petitioned the authorities to assure the area residents of their security since the murder committed in broad daylight.
